Glass is one of the most important components you need to consider when determining the overall performance of your window system.

Low-E Glass
Low E is a special coating applied to your windows that permits and deflects solar energy for year round comfort and savings.  Durabuilt offers two Low-E glass solutions – SUNGATE 500 and SOLARBAN 60.

Low E Glass Performance Overview
Low E Solution
Warmer in Winter
Cooler in Summer
UV Energy Reduction
Sungate 500 28% U-Value (insulating value) Improvement
7% Less Solar Energy Transmission (SHGC)

17% Reduction in Damaging UV Energy

94% Visible Light Allowance
Solarban 60
39% U-Value (insulating value) Improvement
48% Less Solar Energy Transmission (SHGC)

72% Reduction in Damaging UV Energy

88% Visible Light Allowance

*Comparisons are based on center of glass measurements against a clear 3/4" insulating glass units; two 1/8" (3mm) glass panes and a 1/2" (12mm) air space. Actual glass performance may differ slightly due to glass thickness, gas fill, and glass to frame ratio.

U-Value: lower values mean higher insulating performance.
SHGC: Solar Heat Gain Coefficient is a measure of how much solar heat is transmitted through the glass. Lower numbers mean less summer heat gain.
UV:  Ultraviolet energy can be damaging to interior fabrics and furniture. Reduction indicates the amount of UV energy being transmitted against the visible light allowance when compared to standard clear insulating glass.
