Canada Greener Homes Grant & HERA Program

Buildings, including our homes, account for 18% of Canada’s greenhouse gas emissions. The Greener Homes Grant was put in place to help Canadians make where they live more energy-efficient. This means homes will be more comfortable and affordable to maintain while also supporting our overall environmental objectives. This Government of Canada Initiative offers a free home energy evaluation; included is a grant of up to $5,000 to cover the cost of energy-efficiency upgrades. To register for the grant, visit the Government of Canada Greener Homes portal & select Durabuilt as your service provider.

Why is Durabuilt the right partner?

We have been building products that exceed the energy code for over 30 years. Our products are built for the prairies manufactured here in Edmonton out of our 200,000 sq ft plant. We are a 500 person team and family-owned business; we have a team of Replacement Experts here to help navigate you through the whole process.

Eligibility for the Greener Homes Grant

Eligibility for the Canada Greener Homes Grant is based on owning your own home, and it must be your primary residence.   You will be asked to provide proof of ownership by showing the property tax bill during the evaluation, and the home must be an eligible home/building type.

What is Involved With a Home Energy Evaluation?

During your Home Energy Evaluation, our EnerGuide Registered Home Energy Advisor will examine your home to determine its energy efficiency and diagnose areas of improvement that will benefit not only your utility bills but your overall home comfort.

What You Can Expect With Your Evaluation

Our registered home energy advisors will complete an EnerGuide-certified evaluation of your home to assess its energy efficiency. The evaluation will include a thorough, room-by-room examination of the property. It may consist of a blower-door test to determine the building’s airtightness and locate air leakage.

Once the evaluation is complete, our home energy advisors can provide you with an EnerGuide rating. This government-approved rating shows you how energy-efficient your home is.

Our advisors will also provide you with a comprehensive EnerGuide home energy report that will help you make decisions about potential retrofits and upgrades needed to improve your rating. This personalized report will show you where to improve your energy efficiency and which upgrades are most important to improve your home’s energy performance.
