Role Summary

You are an experienced HR Professional that is innovative, adventurous, collaborative, and passionate about using your HR skills to help Durabuilt evolve. You think like a business owner, understand business priorities, champion change by anticipating needs, and translate these into an HR agenda that supports the business as it grows. You build relationships and credibility with your managers by thinking strategically and executing tactically through proactive communication, transparency, and practical integrated solutions. You partner with the managers to provide HR management support and are the key person managers go to for operational support.

Culture

  • Develop collaborative relationships to understand the culture and programs you support, department objectives, financial impact, and the HR related needs.
  • Keep a pulse on culture in departments you support and elevate concerns to the HR Manager and Operational Leaders.

 

Talent Acquisition

  • Work with leaders to build and maintain a proactive talent acquisition plan, anticipate recruitment needs, explore recruitment options, and actively assist in the recruitment process.
  • Direct involvement in sales, professional, key positions, and Manager recruitment.
  • Develop employment contracts for new hires, promotions and transfers for sales, professional, key positions, and leaders.
  • Participate in job analysis, position description reviews and compensation analysis.
  • Participate in and lead (as appropriate) employee onboarding activities.
  • Track and monitor employee turnover and collaborate with leaders on corrective strategies to improve employee retention.

Talent Development

  • Provide guidance on performance management – performance reviews, career development and internal promotions.
  • Assist leaders to manage and resolve employee discipline challenges and provide coaching to proactively manage.
  • Monitor and advise managers regarding performance issues and performance improvement process with employees as needed.
  • Review and provide guidance for employment terminations.
  • Participate in investigations as required.
  • In conjunction with the OHS Coordinator and Managers, ensure HSE program, training, certifications, and related requirements are met.

 

HR Metrics / Productivity

  • Analyze trends and metrics with the HR Manager and HR team to develop solutions, metrics, programs, and policies.

 

HR Operations

  • Work with Managers to identify areas for improvement within programs related to HR operational practices and offer practical solutions.
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance. Partner with HR Manager and counsel as required.
  • Provide guidance in matters regarding WCB, Disability Management programs and requests for leave, medical documentation, employee accommodations and return to work programs.
  • Create, amend, and maintain appropriate employee forms, templates, and related administration.

 

Education

  • Degree in Human Resource Management, Business, Leadership or Psychology.

 

Certifications

  • CPHR.

 

Experience / Capabilities

  • 8+ years in a HR Business Partner &/or HR Lead role.
  • Previous experience with Manufacturing or Construction industry.
  • Experience with immigration – LMIA, Work Permits, Visa’s, Workshare.
  • Solid working knowledge of legislation with the ability to apply it practically to workplace situations.
  • Experience using an HRMS software.
  • Exceptional relationship building and interpersonal skills enabling interaction at all levels.
  • A true hands-on approach as well as the ability to successfully monitor the “pulse” of the employees to ensure a high level of employee engagement.
  • Track record for translating strategic thinking into actionable plans and output. Strong business and HR acumen, including problem solving, critical thinking and self-initiative.
  • Solution focused and comfortable working in an environment which demands robust deliverables.
  • Comfortable with high volume workload with the ability to “roll up your sleeves” and jump in.
  • Drive new approaches that enable continuous improvements and the integration of HR throughout Durabuilt.
  • Strong work ethic, action oriented and desire to achieve excellence.
  • High comfort level working in a fast-paced team environment that is constantly changing.
  • Ability to multitask and meet multiple deadlines.
  • Very high integrity, ethical and trustworthy.
  • High comfort level working autonomously and require little day-to-day oversight and direction.
  • Experience leading organizational change projects and change leadership.
