We are seeking an experienced and innovative candidate to join the Durabuilt team as our Process Engineer at our Manufacturing Facility in Edmonton. This individual will identify and provide solutions for inefficiencies and contribute to process improvements over several production lines. The successful candidate will be a champion for change and monitor that change to ensure Durabuilt is operating at a maximum lean efficiency.

The Production Engineer will also have a strong working relationship with internal business partners such as R&D as well as the management team to plan and support Durabuilt’s operational objectives and production targets. The Process Engineer will examine the manufacturing and assembly process and provide recommendations to improve product output. The successful candidate must be forward thinking with superior leadership skills, take ownership, and demonstrate superior collaboration and relationship development abilities.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Developing, configuring and optimizing industrial processes
  • Assessing processes, taking measurements and interpreting data to improve efficiencies
  • Conduct performance testing of materials and devices and provide feedback and recommend solutions
  • Identifying relevant training needs and opportunities for your team to ensure all SOP’s are being followed and daily tasks are being performed accurately and efficiently
  • Carry out continuous improvement techniques such as Value Stream Mapping utilizing lean and six sigma
  • Develop process automation solutions to improve process quality and reduce process cost
  • Train and coach production teams on process changes and improvements
  • Develop corrective action for manufacturing situations; working directly with Quality Manager and R&D in development, implementation, and follow up of corrective and preventative actions
  • Collaborate and coordinate activity between department supervisors to ensure operational functions are being met
  • Collaborate with R&D to produce time studies and work instructions

Qualifications and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in either Mechanical, Structural, or Industrial Engineering
  • Previous window and door experience is considered a definite asset
  • Experience in the construction industry/ building materials background is considered a definite asset
  • 3 plus years’ experience in production planning in a manufacturing environment
  • 3 plus years’ experience in Lean Manufacturing practices
  • Superior collaboration, leadership and teamwork capabilities
  • Demonstrated understanding of integrated supply chain and logistics concepts and theories
  • Experience using established problem-solving/process improvement methodology, (i.e. Lean or Six Sigma)
  • Must have functional computer skills to operate in software applications, with proficiency in Microsoft Office products (i.e. Auto CAD and Solidworks)
  • Ability to influence and build relationships while also demonstrating excellent communication abilities
  • Superior communication, conflict resolution, and problem solving capabilities
