How a lift and slide door works

How a patio door this big moves this easily

A conventional sliding patio door drags on its track the whole way. The Omega Lift & Slide lifts the panel clear of the track, glides it aside, then lowers its weight onto the seals. Three positions, one handle.

1Turn — liftOne turn of the handle raises the panel clear of its track and onto precision bogie wheels.
2GlidePanels weighing up to 880 pounds move with one hand, gliding across the fixed panel.
3Return — sealSlide the panel back to the closed position, then turn the handle down. It lowers off the wheels, the seals compress around the full perimeter, and the locking points engage. The door seals in the closed position only.

Energy efficiency in a cold climate

A wall of glass shouldn't mean a cold room

In February you can put a chair right beside it. No draft at your ankles, no cold zone in front of the glass.

Three panes of glass and a five-chamber frame do the insulating. Turn the handle down and the panel's 880 pounds press the weatherstripping tight around the whole perimeter — not one latched edge. Heat-reflective laminate finishes keep dark colours cooler through long, high-UV summers, so the frame resists fading and warping through every temperature swing.

U-Factor is how much heat escapes. Lower is better, and 0.19 is about as low as a patio door this size goes.

ENERGY STAR Canada 2025 Manufacturer of the Year

We’re honoured to have been awarded the 2025 Manufacturer of the Year by Natural Resources Canada and ENERGY STAR.

Fun fact: the official industry term for window and door products is "fenestration".

Living with it

A threshold you can roll across

Wheelchair accessible, with no lip to catch a stroller wheel or a toe.

Soft Close

The panel brakes gently near the end of its travel and pulls itself shut. Nothing slams.

Questions

Omega Lift & Slide, answered

What is a lift and slide patio door?

Turning the handle lifts the panel onto bogie wheels before it moves, then lowers its full weight onto the seals when you close it. A conventional sliding patio door rides on its track the whole time — which is why large sliders get heavy and leaky, and why a lift and slide door does not.

How wide can a lift and slide door go?

Up to 21'4" wide and 8'6" high in three- and four-panel configurations. The minimum is 60.5" × 53", so it suits a standard patio door opening too.

Is it energy efficient enough for a Canadian winter?

A 0.19 U-Factor triple-glazed unit with 0.21 SHGC, sealed around its whole perimeter by the panel's weight — specified for Western Canadian cold, freeze-thaw swings, and high summer UV.

What colours and finishes are available?

23 CONTI® laminate finishes in three families — heat-reflective Cool Colors PLUS, sand-matte Mattex, and embossed wood-look Woodec — applied inside and out. See the full range →
